I was on this website called Trendland.com, which features the latest and greatest in Photography, Illustration, Art, Culture, and Fashion. One of their recent posts included photography by Sakir Gökçebag. The pure minimalism inhis approach to “food” photography has disconnected the very idea of food as consumable and transformed it into a purely visual experience.

Conceptual food photography has recently gained momentum, evident in the works by artists Maren Caruso, Sarah Parker & Michael Bodiam, and Jasmin Schuller. It’s kind of weird to consider food as impartial and purely visual, but it could potentially be a sign of how haute cuisine and culinary studies has heightened the cultural value of food in our international world.
